Meredith Cough
BORN: 1964 in Plympton, Massachusetts RESIDES: Portland, Maine
Meredith Cough received a BFA from Maine College of Art in her early twenties after moving to Maine to raise a family and study painting, where she discovered a strong heritage and rich landscape. Her studio, in a nineteenth century woolen mill, looks out onto the Presumpscot River. This inspires her paintings as she searches for the places and people that define New England.
Being a parent shaped and defined the last thirty years of her life. Now, with renewed focus and intention, she finds her way back to the art of observation and creating. Her work has been shown at The Gallery in Readfield, The Center for Maine Contemporary Art biennial competitions, Maine Art Hill in Kennebunkport and the University of Maine at Farmington Art Gallery.
